In this guide, I will be going over the main reasons why your Roomba can not connect to your network. I will also be going over how you can troubleshoot these issues on your own.

Why Roomba Say We Can’t Connect Right Now Roomba?

When seeing a warning that your Roomba can not connect right now can be annoying, especially if you do not know why this is happening. There could be a few reasons why your Roomba can not connect to your network.

There could be an issue with your network, there could be a glitch within the Roomba app. Even the Roomba itself could have a glitch within it that can cause it to not connect to your network.

Whatever the reason is that is causing this problem there are ways you can solve them. Read below to see what you can do when your Roomba is saying “We can not connect right now.”

1. Slow WiFi Connection

Are you seeing a warning saying that your Roomba can not connect right now? It could be that your network is slow, if that is the case it might take a little longer than usual for your Roomba to connect.

When you have a slow internet connection this will take your Roomba a few minutes to connect. This is an easy fix and just takes a little patience.

Fix – Wait a Few Minutes

If your Roomba is not connecting to your WiFi as fast as it normally does and you are seeing the warning that it can not connect right now. It could be as simple as you have a slow WiFi connection.

Wait a few minutes to let your WiFi connect to your Roomba, even when it normally connects quickly.

If you have been waiting a few minutes and you are still seeing the warning that your Roomba can not connect right now then go ahead with the next step below.

2. No/Unstable Internet Connection

Waiting a few minutes to see if your Roomba connects to your WiFi should be the first thing to do, if your connection is slow it might take a while for your Roomba to connect.

However, if you are still seeing the warning that your Roomba can not connect and you have waited a few minutes, the issue might be an unstable or no internet connection.

If you have no WiFi connection then your Roomba will not connect. Another thing to check is if your other devices have a WiFi connection.

And if your other devices can not connect to your WiFi then the issue is either with your router or your network provider.

Fix – Reboot Network Router

Is your Roomba not connecting to the internet? Have you noticed that you have no WiFi connection at all? There is a way you can try to solve this issue. Reboot your router to see if this can fix the problem with your WiFi connection.

Do keep in mind that if rebooting your router does not work and you still have no internet connection this may be an issue with the servers and your network provider.

Contact your network provider and report the issue, you might have to wait for them to fix the issue. Follow these steps to reboot your router. Note, these steps may vary depending on the router and network you have.

  1. Find the reset button usually on the back of the router. It might be a tiny hole that you need a paperclip or something small to press the button.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for a few seconds.
  3. Release the button and let your router power back on.

Note, you can also reboot your router by unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, and plugging it back in. Wait a few minutes and try to connect your Roomba to your WiFi.

3. Roomba Base Stage Out of Network Range

Another thing to consider when you are seeing the warning that your Roomba is not connecting is if your Roomba Base Station is out of your network’s range.

Meaning if you have the Roomba Base Station out of range of the router then your Roomba will not be able to connect to your WiFi. Thankfully like the other two steps above this is simple and easy to do.

Fix – Relocate Roomba Base Station

You have two options if your Roomba Base Station is out of range of your router. One, you can move your Roomba Base Station closer to the router.

Two, you can move your router closer to your Roomba Base Station. Whatever you decide once the Roomba Base Station or the router is moved closer, wait a few minutes before you try connecting your Roomba to your WiFi.

If that does not do the trick then go to the next step to see if that will help solve the issue.

4. Roomba App Can Not Connect to WiFi/Cloud

Some users who have run into this issue state that the issue is that your Roomba app can not connect to the WiFi and cloud. When this happens you will see the message that your Roomba can not connect right now.

One thing users have stated that works is switching your Roomba from WiFi to your mobile device’s data.

This can refresh the Roomba app and clear any glitches that may be causing the issue within the app. Especially when your WiFi is working just fine and you know that is not the issue.

Fix – Switch From WiFi to Data and Vice Versa

As stated above there could be a glitch within the Roomba app that is preventing you from connecting to your WiFi. The first thing you should do is make sure that your Roomba is updated to the most recent version.

This can also make sure there are no corrupt files within the app, keeping your app updated is the best way to make sure your app is working at its best. Now that you have checked if your app is up to date, and your Roomba is still not connecting to your WiFi.

It is time to switch to a different connection, your mobile device data will do. Switching your Roomba to a different network connection like your mobile device data can get your Roomba to connect once again.

And vice versa if you are using and having issues with your mobile device data switch it to a WiFi network and see if this solves the issue.

5. Issue With Roomba Device

Now the issue may not even be with your network or the app but with your Roomba itself. If there is a glitch within your Roomba it may be the cause of it not connecting to your WiFi. Like all devices, this can happen from time to time.

Thankfully there is a way that you can reboot your Roomba to clear any glitches that may be causing your issue.

If you do a reboot on your Roomba and you are still seeing the warning that your Roomba can not connect right now you can do a factory reset on your Roomba to see if this will solve the problem.

Fix – Reboot/Factory Reset Your Roomba

As stated above, the next step you should take if all the other steps above do not solve the issue is to reboot your Roomba. If doing a reboot on your Roomba does not work either you can do a factory reset on your Roomba.

Keep in mind when you do a factory reset you will need to set up your Roomba like the first day you got it. However, this is a great way to clear any corrupt files that can be causing the issue of your Roomba not connecting.

I personally use the Roomba 694, which I picked up from Amazon.

Or contact Roomba Support.

Note: Only pick up a new iRobot if you’re convinced the one you currently have has too many issues. There’s no point in picking up a new vacuum if the problem with your current vacuum can easily be fixed.
