Issue Connecting TanTan Smart Plug to WiFi
The most common issue is that your TanTan is having issues connecting to your home WiFi. Follow these steps to troubleshoot your TanTan Smart Plug.
1. Check to See if Your TanTan Smart Plug Has Received Power
The first step is to see if your TanTan is plugged into a working outlet and is receiving power. You will see a blue LED indicator flash. If not, try to push the power button for a few seconds until you see the indicator flash blue rapidly.
When you see the blue LED indicator flash rapidly you know that your TanTan Smart Plug is receiving power. If there are no lights, try a different power outlet, you need power for your TanTan Smart Plug to work.
Now that your blue LED indicator is flashing it is ready to connect to your home WiFi. If your TanTan Smart Plug will not connect to your WiFi move to the next step.
2. Check Your Network Connection
If you are having issues with your TanTan Smart Plug connecting to your WiFi, check to see if you have a WiFi connection. If you have a bad or no network connection this will cause an issue with your TanTan Smart Plug not being able to connect to your WiFi.
You can check to see if the other devices in your home are able to connect to your WiFi. If you notice that other devices in your home are unable to connect to your Wi-Fi then that is your first sign that there is an issue with your network connection.
Try to reboot your router to see if this can refresh your network and get your WiFi back up and running. All you need to do to reboot your router is unplug the router from the wall outlet, wait a few minutes, and plug your router back into the wall outlet.
This should reboot your router and bring your connection back up. If you still do not have a WiFi connection contact your network provider to see what the issue is. There could be a problem on their side that needs to be fixed before you have WiFi again. Your network provider will inform you that when you contact them.
3. Check Your WiFi Network Band
This is another thing to consider when you are having issues with connecting your TanTan Smart Plug to your WiFi. Keep in mind that your TanTan Smart Plug can only support a 2.4 GHz WiFi network band.
So if you have your WiFi network band set to 5GHz, your TanTan Smart Plug will not be able to connect to your WiFi since it does not support that WiFi network band. If this is the case you will need to look into your router’s manual to see how you can switch your router to a 2.4 GHz WiFi network band.
Since every router is different this is why you need to look into your router’s manual to check to see how you can switch your WiFi network band. Once you have switched your WiFi network band, try connecting your TanTan Smart Plug to your WiFi.
4. Put Your TanTan Smart Plug Closer to Your Router or Vice Versa
Are you still experiencing issues with connecting your TanTan Smart Plug to your WiFi? There is another thing that you can do. Make sure that your TanTan Smart Plug is within range of your router, and that it is not in any dead zones in your house.
The best way to solve this is to bring your TanTan Smart Plug closer to your router or bring your router closer to your TanTan Smart Plug. Whichever you want to do is up to you, but once you have your TanTan Smart Plug closer to your router this should give you a better connection. Try to connect your TanTan Smart Plug to your WiFi and see if this works.
5. Your Phone and TanTan Smart Plug Need to Be Connected to Same WiFi Network
Experiencing connection issues with your TanTan Smart Device can be due to your phone not being connected to the same WiFi network. If you have your phone connected to a different WiFi network this can cause issues with connection.
Make sure that your phone is connected to the same network. Once your phone and your TanTan smart plug is connected to the same WiFi network this should solve the issue with your TanTan Smart Plug not connecting.
6. Your TanTan Smart Plug Needs to Be Reset
Now that you have tried all the steps above to connect your TanTan Smart Plug to your WiFi network, you are still experiencing issues with connecting. The next step to try is to reset your TanTan Smart Plug.
Doing a reset may clear any glitches that may be causing this problem. Doing a factory reset on your TanTan Smart Plug will have to start all over again like when you first bought the TanTan Smart Plug.
Though doing this can solve the issue that you are having with your device. To do a factory reset on your TanTan Smart Plug you will need to hold down the Power Button for 5 seconds.
You will have the blue LED indicator light flash rapidly, releasing the Power Button. Not that you have done a restart this should help fix this issue and you can now try to connect to your WiFi network.
7. Issue With Your TanTan Smart Plug Offline
Another issue that you can have with your TanTan Smart Plug is it being offline. What this means is that the TanTan Smart Plug is unable to reach the device. When this is happening it can be because of two things, one you are unable to connect your TanTan Smart Plug to WiFi, or the plug is turned off. Here is how you go about troubleshooting this issue.
8. TanTan Smart Plug Has No Power
