Why is Starlink Ethernet Adapter Not Working?

1. Connection Issues With Starlink Ethernet Adapter

One of the most common reasons why your Starlink Ethernet Adapter is not working may be because of a connection issue with the Ethernet Adapter and the router.

When the Ethernet Adapter is having issues connecting to the Starlink router the network will not work with the Ethernet Adapter. Thankfully this is something you can fix without needing any experience in the tech field.

You will need to set up the Ethernet Adapter all over again, so it will be like when you first got the Ethernet Adapter.

Fix – Disconnect/Reconnect Ethernet Adapter

When the issue is the connection between the Ethernet Adapter and the router there is something that you can do to fix this problem. Follow these steps below to set up the Starlink Ethernet Adapter once again to see if this fixes the issues.

  1. The first thing you are going to do is unplug the Starlink router AC power cord from the wall socket, or wherever you have the router plugged in.
  2. You will want the router and the Dish turned off for this process.
  3. Unplug the Starlink antenna cable from underneath the router.
  4. Where the Starlink cable was you are now going to plug in the Starlink Ethernet Adapter in. Make sure it is seated correctly when you do this step.
  5. Now you can plug the router in and power everything up to see if the Ethernet Adapter is working. If it is still not working then follow the steps below to see what else you can do to solve this problem.

2. Starlink Ethernet Adapter is Not Seated Correctly

The Starlink Ethernet Adapter is sensitive, if it is not seated correctly then it will cause an issue. One of these issues is the Ethernet Adapter not working.

When the Ethernet Adapter is not seated correctly this causes connection issues that can be easily fixed. Some users stated that once they made sure the Ethernet Adapter was seated correctly it started working again with no issue.

Fix – Check if Ethernet Adapter is Seated Correctly

Did you know that if your Ethernet Adapter is not seated correctly that it can cause the Ethernet Adapter from working? Yes, something as simple as that can become an issue when you are trying to connect to a device via Ethernet Adapter.

When your Ethernet Adapter is connected to your device you want to have the best network connection with no interruptions, so when it does not work this can be annoying. Check to see if the Ethernet Adapter is seated correctly.

You can easily do this by unplugging the Ethernet Adapter on both sides and plugging it back in, making sure you hear that click and you know it is seated right. If your Ethernet Adapter is still not working after this step read below to see what you should do next.

3. Starlink Router Needs a Factory Reset

When you have tried resetting your Starlink Ethernet Adapter and made sure that it is seated correctly the next thing you should do is a factory reset on your Starlink router.

Doing a factory reset will refresh and clear any possible bugs/glitches that may be the cause of your Ethernet Adapter not working. Users have found that once they did a factory reset, especially after step one, the Starlink Ethernet Adapter started working once more.

Doing a factory reset will allow your router to try connecting to the Ethernet Adapter again. If you do not know how to do a factory reset on your Starlink router then read below to see what steps you need to take.

Fix – Factory Reset Starlink Router

As previously stated when doing a factory reset this will clear any possible technical issues that are causing your Starlink Ethernet Adapter from not working.

When you do a factory reset on your WIFI this might solve the issue if it is a network problem. If the network is not working properly then the Ethernet Adapter will not work properly either.

Lucky for you, doing a factory reset on your Starlink router is quick and easy. Follow these couple of steps below to do a factory reset on your Starlink router.

  1. On your Starlink router you will see a button at the bottom of the router, this is the reset button.
  2. Press and hold the reset button for a few seconds until you see the light turn blue.
  3. Seeing the light turn blue will indicate to you that the factory reset was successful.

Try the Ethernet Router once again to see if it is working. Note, if it is not working then this means there might be something wrong with the Ethernet Adapter. Read below to see what could be causing your Ethernet Adapter to not work.

4. Dirty Ethernet Adapter

Have you ever wondered if your Ethernet Adapter can get dirt and debris inside it? The answer is yes, it can.

If there is any dust, dirt, or any debris inside the Ethernet Adapter this can lead to issues. One of those issues is the Ethernet Adapter to your Starlink can not work. If you have a dirty Ethernet Adapter this can cause it to not connect to the router.

It can even cause issues with your Ethernet Adapter from connecting to any devices. All hope is not gone, there is a way you can clean your Ethernet Adapter to see if it will work again.

Fix – Clean/Remove Any Debris From Ethernet Adapter

When cleaning any device you should always use caution, you do not want to cause damage to the Ethernet Adapter. If you notice that your Starlink Ethernet Adapter has dirt or debris inside the pins try blowing it out. If that does not work you can try using a Q-tip to clean it.

If you have compressed air in a can you can use that as well to make sure all the dust is removed. Note, if you see any damage this is something you can not repair yourself, contact the support customer service and see what to do next.

5. Faulty Ethernet Adapter

If you have done all the steps listed above and your Starlink Ethernet Adapter is still not working, then it could be a faulty Ethernet Adapter. This is bound to happen every once in a while, this could be caused by damage done to the Ethernet Adapter before you had it.

It could also be faulty from the manufacturing of it, something with the wires. Whatever the reason is, if you have a faulty Ethernet Adapter there is nothing that you can do to fix it.

Fix – Contact Support/Replace Ethernet Adapter

When you have tried all the steps listed above and your Starlink Ethernet Adapter is still not working, you may have come to the conclusion that your Ethernet Adapter is faulty.

If that is the case you should contact the customer support service and see what they recommend you do next. If it is an issue on Starlink’s part, see if they will replace it for you.

However, if you have had this for a whole and it is faulty and damaged due to wear and tear you may have to purchase a new Ethernet Adapter. Thankfully it does not cost that much, only $25 in the store.

With that all being said, if you are experiencing any issues with your Starlink Adapter not working the first thing you should do is unplug the router from the wall and set up the Ethernet Adapter again.

Always make sure that the Ethernet Adapter is seated correctly, if it is not this can cause it not to work, keep that in mind. It is recommended that after you do that you should do a factory reset on your Starlink router.

Check to see if there is any damage done to the Ethernet Adapter and if it needs to be cleaned. If that all fails contact the customer support team to see if there is anything they can do on their part.
