Why is Luxpro Thermostat Not Working? Do This!
1. Your Luxpro thermostat needs news batteries
To Troubleshoot whether a Luxpro Thermostat that is not working has a low or dead battery check to see if a LOW BAT symbol appears on the display.
Batteries should be replaced at minimum once per year, or sooner if the LOW BAT battery symbol shows up in the lower left part of the display screen as shown below. In some models, you will see the word “Replace”.
You can settle low battery problems on your Luxpro Thermostat by setting up fresh AA alkaline batteries in the correct alignment.
Here are the AA batteries (view on Amazon) that I use for my thermostat.
To replace the batteries in your Luxpro Thermostat:
1. Detach the thermostat’s body from the base plate screwed into the wall.
2. Eliminate the used batteries from the battery tray and throw away appropriately.
3. Note the polarity markings indicated in the battery compartment to safeguard proper installation.
4. Install two new Energizer or DURACELL, “AA” size alkaline batteries into the battery tray.
You should be aware that if you install the new batteries within 60 seconds, the thermostat will recall its programmed settings. The only features you will need to reprogram are the current day and the time.
5. When done, hang the top of the unit by the tabs at the top corners of the base
6. Click the bottom of the unit into place. Do not use too much force. If the body does not snap into place easily, take out the body, re-hang it from the tabs and try again.
Remember to use Energizer or DURACELL Alkaline Batteries only for all Lux thermostats requiring batteries.
Majority of Luxpro thermostats are not designed to use Lithium batteries. The voltage performance of alkaline batteries when compared to Lithium and rechargeable batteries are very different.
Although lithium batteries last longer, their voltage drops radically at the termination of their useful life compared to alkaline. This defeats the automatic safety shutdown feature in their thermostats.
This means that if the lithium or rechargeable batteries die while you are not home, significant heat damage may occur to your house. The Geo is the exclusion to this rule. It’s wireless connectivity features can be demanding on batteries, therefore it would drain alkaline batteries at a much faster rate.
That’s why, the GEO has been optimized to use Lithium batteries. None of Luxpro thermostats will work with rechargeable batteries.
2. Your Luxpro Thermostat needs to be reset
If battery replacement does not fix the glitch, reset the Thermostat. If your find that your thermostat is behaving erratically or something strange is in the display, hitting the “Reset” buttons can often correct the problem.
The screen must be lit for any button press to be effective. For a TX100E model. Always try hardware reset first. If it does not fix the problem, do a software reset. There is no button for hardware reset. To achieve a hardware reset with no data loss;
- Remove batteries from tray for approximately 15minutes.
- The screen should be totally blank before inserting batteries.
- Put batteries to resume normal operations.
A Software reset will result in loss of all set programming and return to factory settingsyou’re your TX100E.
- Move mode switch to the OFF position.
- Press and hold the SET and NEXT buttons together for at least 5 seconds.
- The LCD display screen will become fully populated
- Release buttons and return to normal.

In a TX9000TS Hardware Reset does not erase anything.
- Take the front of the thermostat off the wall and look for a small white round reset button on the right side labeled “H.W. Reset”.
- Long press this button down for at least 5 seconds.
- The screen should fully populate temporarily.
If this does not correct the problem, proceed to a Software Reset which will erase your custom program settings, so write down all temperatures and start times before you begin.
- Look for a small white round reset button found on the left side with a line going up to a label “S. Reset”
- Press this button down for at least 5 seconds. The screen should fully populate temporarily.
- The day & time will still be correct, but you will have to enter back in all your custom program values.
- Return thermostat front cover on the wall.

- Press this button down for at least 5 seconds and then let go.
- Again, the screen should fully populate temporarily.

Write down all temperatures and start times before you begin.

3. You need to take a deeper look at any snags that stem from circuit breaker.
The circuit breaker can trip because of a short circuit, ground fault, or any other electrical issue.
A circuit breaker that trips recurrently is a safety hazard you will need to get professional help from a certified electrician
4. You need to inspect your Luxpro thermostat for faulty cables.

-
- Check that all the connectors need to be coupled properly to their terminals.

For blurry or unreadable displays, peel off the plastic from the display to get a better view.
To fix a blank or fading display replace weak batteries.
If your screen shows ‘Override’, it’s possibly because the temperature has been raised up from the programmed values.
Fix – Screen will rectify itself when it reaches the next scheduled temperature.
If you spot a ‘HI’ or ‘LO’ on the thermostat’s monitor, the room’s temperature is out of limit or past the range of the thermostat.
Fix 2 – The reading will be resume on the screen once the room’s temperature goes back to normal.
Fix 3 – If you believe the temperature isn’t above or below the range of the thermostat, you should try resetting the thermostat.
6. You need to restart the thermostat
Power cycling or restarting the thermostat is one of the most straightforward and useful troubleshooting techniques.
To power cycle your LuxPro Thermosat
- Find a cover below the screen that has several buttons.
- Locate the power button from the list and tap on it.
- This will switch thermostat off.
- Wait for at least 5 minutes and use the same power button to switch it on.
This should fix most of the issues with your thermostat.
7. Replace Luxpro Thermostat Or Contact Support
If you have entered new batteries, did a reset, checked for damage, and tried all of the other small fixes, and it still won’t work, it’s time to either replace your Luxpro Thermostat.
I personally use the LuxPRO P521U, which I picked up from Amazon.
oR Log into your account at Luxpro Freshdesk support portal to get solutions to your LuxPro products.
Note: Only pick up a new Luxpro thermostat if you’re convinced the one you currently have has too many issues. There’s no point in picking up a new thermostat if the problem with your current thermostat can easily be fixed.
