Unfortunately there have been a few complaints from users recently. Many complain that this plug does not serve them well as it should but that doesn’t have to be the case.
There are a few ways to make the Jinvoo plug work perfectly by rectifying the mistakes that hinder its performance. That is what I shall explore in this article.
Why is My Jinvoo Smart Plug Not Working?
Not Plugged into a Working Outlet
Obviously, this plug will not work if it is not plugged into a power source. It is therefore important that you check the outlet of the plug is working as it should. You should also be sure that the plug is also switched on.
Typically, this plug should turn on automatically but that does not mean that this happens always. It is important that you confirm the plug is actually turned on.
Fix – Make sure the Power Outlet is On
- Check that the outlet has power running through it
- Check that it has turned on automatically. If not, press the power button to ensure it actually turns on.
- There will be a blue light at the power button to signify that the plug has received power
- Press and hold onto the power button before connecting it to the smart app life or the Jinvoo app.
- You need to press and hold the same power button continuously until the blue light blinks severally
2. Incorrect Settings
If the Jinvoo smart Plug does not work due to power issues, then there could be a bug problem that needs to be sorted out immediately. Improper settings can affect and even cause the plug to malfunction. This can only be sorted out by erasing any previous settings. As such, you need to factory reset the Jinvoo smart plug.
Fix – Factory Reset the Plug
- The best fix for such a bug is to factory reset it.
- Press and hold the power button for at least 10 to 15 seconds at a time
- The LED indicator should blink rapidly and then slowly again
- This signifies that the plug reset is complete.
- The previously set custom settings will be erased once the factory reset is complete.
- You need to set the plug as you did before.
3. Non Responding or Offline Smart Plug
It is possible that the smartplug may fail to connect remotely to the smart plug. If you keep getting the no access message then you should know that there is an issue with the response or the device is offline.
In case you are experiencing such issues, then your first move is to You need to confirm that the device is plugged in and that there is power going through it.
There are several things that may cause the Wifi not to respond. It is important to identify these issues first. It is possible that the smart app is no longer available. This app will allow you to control other devices. Therefore if it is no longer available then the smart plug fails to work.
Note that the WiFi or internet connectivity cannot be found if the device is not on to begin with. Once this is confirmed, you can troubleshoot in a number of ways as I will describe below.
Fix – Troubleshoot the Internet Connectivity Issue
Use the correct app:
- Your Jinvoo app will malfunction severally so this is not a surprise
- If this happens severally, you should switch to the Smart Life app
- This is a compatible app and will help smooth things over
You should try updating the app:
- You will struggle with connectivity issue if your app is not updated
- You need to confirm that the app has new updates and update it
- Check and confirm the firmware before updating it. Note that there are no guarantees that the plug will work even after completing such an update.
Reset the router and Smartp[lug:
- In case the issue continues to recur then consider resetting the smart plug as I have already discussed above
- Also reset the router. Both factory reset and router reset will help to eliminate any glitches and make it possible to fix all other issues
Use 2.4GHz WiFi network band
- Note that the Jinvoo plug works on this specific network band.
- Check the router to reset the network band if it is not the recommended one
- You need to refer to the router manual for this since it differs depending on the type of router
- Test to see if the connectivity issue has been resolved by connecting the device to the app one more time.
4. Not Connecting the Right App
As I have mentioned earlier, you may need to use a different app to fix the glitches. This means connecting the Jinvoo plug app to the Smart l;ife app.
Fix- Connect the Jinvoo App to the Life Smart App
- Visit the app store or google store depending on the phone you are using. Find the smart life app and install it
- Plug the Jinvoo smart plug into the power outlet and confirm that the blue light is on. Switch the plug manually if the light does not come on automatically
- Create an account after you open the Life smart app or log in if the account already exists.
- Press and hold on the power plug until the light flashes blue. Do this for at least 5 seconds
- TGo back to the smart app and tap on the + sign (plus) located at the right hand corner of your screen on the upper side. This app will ask you to confirm that the indicator light plug is flashing rapidly as it should. You need to confirm indicator rapidly blinks
- Next you should enter the correct WiFi password and tap to confirm.Verify that the WiFi is running on a 2.4 GHz network band.
- This will then connect the app to the smart plug within seconds. After the connection completes successfully, there will be a note on the screen confirming this. ‘Device successfully added.’ Complete the process by renaming the device and confirming by taping done.
- With this you should be able to control the Jinvoo smart plug via the Smart Life app. You can also control every other device connected to the plug via the same app.
Note that there are no guarantees even with the smart life app especially if the plug is broken. However, most of the other issues can easily be fixed when the smart life app is linked to the Jinvoo app. You can go back to controlling all the other apps that are linked to the app.
5. Faulty or Broken Smart Plug
Sometimes the problem with the Jinvoo plug is because the smart plug is broken or faulty. This means that it will not work as expected no matter how hard you try to troubleshoot it. In such a case, you may have no other choice than to replace. This is especially more important if reinstalling the app fails to remedy the situation.
Fix – Replace Broken Plug
- When the Jinvoo plug is faulty, then there isn’t much you can do about it. You need to attempt reinstalling it one more time. If everything checks out but the plug still fails to work, then there is no remedy.
- In such a case, you should replace the broken plug with a new one.
Note that most of the issues will be resolved by simply resetting the Jinvoo smart plug. It will fix common issues such as WiFi connectivity issues, and concerns of being offline. However, sometimes all the attempts to fix the problems may not work.
In such a case, you have to factory reset the smart plug as this will erase every custom programming from before. In case all this fails to work, it is possible that the smart plug is indeed broken. In such a case, the only solution would be to have it replaced with a new one.`
When everything else fails, or you are unsure of how to handle the issue with your plug, consider calling customer care because they know how to take it from here.
