How to Setup Setek WiFi Extender
There are two different methods of setting up your Setek WiFi Extender, you can set it up through WPS, or you can go onto your desktop or laptop and do it through your web browser. Follow these steps to get your Setek WiFi Extender.
Method 1. Use the WPS Button
The Setek WiFi Extender has a WPS button and most WiFi network routers have a WPS button as well. This is where you can set up your Setek WiFi Extender, by using the WPS buttons that are on your extender and router.
When you use the WPS button this will allow you to configure your Setek WiFI Extender without using a web browser. Follow these easy steps to set up your Setek WiFi Extender.
Step One: Plug in the Setek WiFi Extender into a power outlet, make sure you plug it in range of your WiFi router. When you see green lights that is the sign that your Setek WiFi Extender is powered on.
Step Two: Find the WPS button on your router, press and hold the WPS button for a couple of seconds and release it.
Step Three: After, go to the WPS button on your Setek WiFi Extender, press and hold the WPS button for a few seconds, and release.
Step Four: Once both buttons are pressed, wait for about 30 seconds for the Setek WiFi Extender to restart itself. When your extender connects to your router you will see the Setek WiFi Extenders indicator light turn off and back on again.
Step Five: Once your Setek WiFi Extender is connected to your router you then can locate it somewhere in your home or office. Some of the best places to keep it are where you are experiencing dead zones or somewhere in the middle of the house, as long as it is within the range of your WiFi router.
Remember that this step will only work if your WiFi router supports WPS, some routers may not, which is fine there is another way you can set up your Setek WiFi Extender.
If the WPS method does not work the first time try again and make sure you follow the steps correctly, try giving it more time in between when you press and hold the WPS button.
If you have tried this method a few times and it is still not working then you can try the next step listed below.
Method 2. Use a PC or Laptop
If the WPS method did not work or if your router does not support WPS then you will need to go to your desktop or laptop and set up your Setek WiFi Extender from there. You can also do this on your smartphone as well, whatever you have access to.
Make sure that you are home or at the office and close to the router you want to extend. Open up your web browser and follow these steps to set up your Setek WiFi Extender.
Step One: Once you get your Setek WiFi Extender plugged into a power outlet, make sure that you plug it into your new router. Once you plug in your Setek WiFi Extender wait till you see the power light turn on.
Step Two: Look at your wireless network list on your phone or desktop, you will see “Setek” listed. Once you have found “Setek” you will want to click on it to connect to your Setek WiFi Extender.
Step Three: Once you have connected to your Setek WiFi Extender the next thing you will do is Sign into the management page. This will show up once you first connect to your Setek WiFi Extender.
However; if this does not show up you can go into your internet browser on your smartphone or desktop.
Once you are in your internet browser type in, 192.168.10.1 in the address bar. Note, this will work whether you use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome as your web browser.
Step Four: The page you see next will have you sign in using your admin password. Once you are logged in using your default password it will now scan for all the different wireless networks.
Step Five: The next thing to do is choose which WiFi networks you want to improve the WiFi connection. Once you have selected your WiFi network you will need to put in the password for your WiFi network.
This is the password that either the network set up for you or the password you have created for your WiFi network.
Once you put in the password you will select the Connect button. You will notice that your SSID will be your network name but it will have a “Plau” at the end of the name.
Step Six: Your Setek WiFi Extender will do an automatic reboot when you have finished the setup via the web browser. Once your extender is rebooted you will need to connect to your SSID to complete the setup.
Step Seven: Now that you have set up your Setek WiFi Extender you can not move it to any outlet in your house or office, just as long as it is within the network range of your router.
