How to Reset Eufy 2K Doorbell

The Eufy 2K battery doorbell is a trusty security camera when it works. And it works pretty well when you have it properly set up from start.

But there may be times when a factory reset is necessary either because Eufy 2k doorbell has developed a serious bug, or you didn’t have it set up properly in the first place, or you want to pair the doorbell with another HomeBase or account.

Whatever the case, you need to know how to properly reset the Eufy 2K battery doorbell to get it working properly again.

In this article, I will walk you through how to reset the Eufy 2K battery doorbell, and resolve any issues that you may have when trying to reset the doorbell or when you want to pair it again with the Eufy security app and your HomeBase 2 after a reset.

How to Reset Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell

The process to reset Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell is quite straightforward. To do this:

  1. Use the doorbell removal tool that is shipped with your Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell. If you no longer have this tool, a paperclip will do
  2. Insert the tool or the paper clip inside the hole at the base of the doorbell and press it so that the doorbell pops up and out
  3. Turn the doorbell gently so you are looking at the rear.
  4. Next, use the tool or paperclip to press and hold the sync button/hole for 10 seconds. You will hear two beeps like a doorbell chime afterwards showing that the Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell has been reset.

The sync button is located just above the USB port at the bottom of the doorbell rear.

  1. When reset is in progress, you will see a yellow light on the doorbell. Wait a full minute afterwards for the process to complete.

Once this is done, you can go ahead and add your Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell to Homebase and to the security app again.

Why Won’t Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell Reset?

Many users have reported that they are unable to reset their Eufy 2K battery doorbell or that they are unable to add the doorbell to Homebase and the security app after performing a reset. Here, I will provide solutions on the issue of Eufy 2k battery doorbell not resetting or not adding to Homebase and security app.

1. You Are Not Following The Right Process For Resetting The Doorbell

The method for resetting Eufy security devices varies across the devices. For a Eufy 2K battery doorbell, the only way to reset the doorbell is to press and hold the sync button for 10 seconds.

I have found that many users make the following mistakes when trying to reset a Eufy 2K battery doorbell:

  • Quickly pressing and releasing the sync button. This will only power on the doorbell.
  • Pressing and holding the sync button for a few seconds until you hear a beep. This will only add the doorbell to HomeBase.
  • Quickly pressing the sync button five times in three seconds. This will only power off the doorbell.

2. You Are Resetting The Wrong Device

The Eufy 2K battery doorbell is the device that is outside your house. It is different from the HomeBase that is inside your home. The Homebase has a dedicated reset button, as well as a dedicated Sync button at the back of the device.

For the Eufy 2K doorbell, the sync button serves as the power, sync, and reset button all at once.

Pressing the reset button on the HomeBase will not reset the Eufy 2K battery doorbell. Therefore, the only way to reset the doorbell itself is to press and hold the sync button at the back of the doorbell for 10 seconds until you hear two beeps.

3. Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell Battery Is Low

The other reason I have found as to why the doorbell will not reset is because the battery is low. If the Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell battery is low or flat, it will not be able to power the full reset cycle.

So, if you find that you are unable to reset your doorbell, and you have followed the right process, then detach the doorbell and charge the battery using the USB charging port at the back of the doorbell.

Issues With Setting Up Doorbell After Reset

If you, like many users, are having issues connecting your Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell with the security app or with the HomeBase 2 after resetting the doorbell, read on to find out how to easily resolve this problem.

To integrate the doorbell with the app and HomeBase, you need to follow best practices for a Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell as detailed below:

  1. If you already have the Eufy Security App installed, then go to your app store and make sure to download the latest updates if available. This is key to getting everything to work seamlessly.
  2. Then, make sure that you are signed into your Eufy account on the security app
  3. Make sure that HomeBase is added to the security app FIRST. If HomeBase is not added first, the process will not work. If you need to know how to add HomeBase to the security app, I did an article on that titled Eufy Camera Not Connecting to Homebase
  4. After adding Homebase to the app, then add the 2K Battery Doorbell to Homebase, following the steps below:
  5. Launch the security app again and tap Add Device, then select Battery Doorbell
  6. Scan the QR code located on the doorbell
  7. Connect the 2K battery doorbell to the HomeBase 2 that you added earlier
  8. Press the SYNC button on the doorbell for 2 seconds so that you hear a beep. I already explained where the sync button is located on the doorbell
  9. Tap Next and the HomeBase will emit a sound to pair with the 2k battery doorbell.

The setup must be performed in this order to get Eufy 2K Battery Doorbell working properly again.
