If you have recently purchased the ADT Door Lock for your home security it is now time to set up your smart lock.
In this guide, I will be going over how to program your ADT Door Lock. Remember when creating the Master Code and User Codes to make them easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess. This will better keep your home more secure.
Enabling the Master Code on ADT Door Lock
Enabling the Master Code on the ADT Door Lock is important and also the first step you do when programming your ADT Door Lock. The Master Code is what you will use to access your ADT Door Lock features and programming your ADT Door Lock. Follow the steps below to enable the Master Code on your ADT Door Lock:
- You will need to locate to “Program button”, it is a small button that is on the inside or back of the lock.
- Press and hold the “Program button” until you see the lights flash or hear a beep. Your Lock will not be in the programming code.
- You will now want to enter the default Master Code on the keypad, this will be located on your ADT Door Lock instruction manual. It is a 6-digit Master Code.
- After entering the 6-digit default Master Code, press the Lock button.
- You will see the lights flash or hear a beep indicating that the default Master Code has worked.
- You will now want to enter a new customized 4 to 6-digit Master Code, that you will remember but it is not easy for others to guess.
- Press the Lock button.
- You will hear a beep or see the lights flash indicating that your new Master Code is set.
- To confirm if this has worked try unlocking your ADT Door Lock using your new personal Master Code. If your Door unlocks you know that the new Master Code has been set.
Note, if you do not have your ADT Door Lock instruction manual and you need the default Master Code you can contact the Tesla customer support to get the default Master Code for your lock.
Creating/Adding New User Codes to ADT Door Lock
You can add User Codes to your ADT Door Lock so that everyone in your household and guests can have their own personal Code to access your home. Follow these steps to add a new user code to your ADT Door Lock:
- Press the “Program Button” once.
- On the keypad enter your personal Master Code, this confirms that you are authorized to make changes to your ADT Door Lock.
- Press the Lock button.
- Enter the new 4 to 9-digit personal User Code.
- Press the Lock button once. You will see the keypad light up and hear a beep, indicating that the new User Code has been added.
Note, follow this to add more user codes to your ADT Door Lock. Your ADT Door Lock can hold up to 30 different personal 4 to 8-digit User Codes.
Changing/Deleting User Codes on ADT Door Lock
There might be a time when you need to change or delete a User Code from your ADT Door Lock. Follow these steps below to change or delete User Codes on your ADT Door Lock:
- Press the “Program Button” on your lock once.
- On the keypad enter your personal Master Code.
- Press the Lock button.
- Enter the 4 to 8-digit User Code you want to delete.
- Press the Lock button.
- Re-enter the 4 to 8-digit User Code you want to delete.
- Press the Lock button.
- You will see the keypad light up green and hear a beep, indicating that the User Code is not deleted.
Note, if you are wanting to change a User Code just follow these steps then follow the add new User Code steps. This will change the User Code by deleting and adding a new User Code.
Deleting All User Codes
If you are wanting to delete all of the User Codes on your ADT Door Lock there is a way, follow these steps below:
- Press the “Program Button” once.
- Press the Lock Button.
- Enter the personal Master Code on the keypad.
- Press the Lock button.
- Press the 9 keys 6 times.
- Press the Lock button.
- Wait for the ADT Door Lock to process, once you hear the beep and see the keypad light flash this will indicate that all User Codes have been deleted.
Troubleshooting ADT Door Lock Issues
There might be some issues that you run into when owning an ADT Door Lock. Below are some questions and solutions to issues you may be having regarding your ADT Door Lock.
Why is My ADT Door Lock Unresponsive?
If you are having issues with your ADT Door Lock being unresponsive the first thing you should check are the batteries. If your ADT Door Lock battery is low or dead this can cause your lock to be unresponsive. Replacing the batteries can be the solution to this problem.
How Long Does an ADT Battery Last?
This all depends on the battery and usage. Normally the battery in your ADT Door Lock can last for up to a year or more. If you are experiencing issues with your ADT Door Lock this could be due to a low or dead battery.
What Batteries Does ADT Door Lock Use?
4 AA batteries and others are best to use the Alkaline batteries. Rechargeable and/or Lithium batteries are not recommended for the ADT Door Lock.
How to Reset My ADT Door Lock?
Note, that doing a factory reset on your ADT Door Lock will clear all settings and codes from your lock.
- Remove the battery pack.
- Press and hold the “Program Button”.
- While still holding the “Program Button”, put the battery pack back in.
- Continue to hold the “Program Button” until you hear a beep and see the keypad light flash red.
- Press the “Program Button” once. You will see the keypad flash red and green multiple times. You will see the Lock start to do the door processing.
